About myself and introduction to my ePortfolio
Entering freshmen year of high school I never really thought of my future goals in life. At that time, I wasn’t interested in a specific career but I did know that college was my only option. My mother has always had high expectations for me in life and she encouraged me to do well in school. Therefore, my freshmen year I was focused on achieving high grades in my classes, which I was successful in doing so. Going into my second year of high school, there was one class that gave me an insight on what I would like to pursue as a career. That class was called Principles of Biomedical Sciences. During that class, we had an assignment in which we researched careers; one of them was a cardiologist. As I researched more about the career of a cardiologist that I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. This is when I first began to think about careers and what I was interested in doing after high school. As a junior I watched my senior friends become the main focus of the school because it was there time in which they needed to begin researching and applying for colleges. I learned from them that it was best to complete college requirements as early as possible. I also realized that I would soon be in their position and that I myself should get an early start on researching colleges and figuring out my future goals. During this last year of high school, I began to reflect on what I was interested in and what would be my overall purpose in life. I knew that I wanted to make a change in the world. Although I may not have the biggest impact on human society, I would be able to change the lives of those I meet. I concluded that by entering a career in the medical field I could achieve that goal by helping those who are injured or have a disease. I had been accepted to three of my choices for colleges and I have decided to enroll myself into Uconn. Throughout this ePortfolio you’re going to see four of my best artifacts which will present the following skills which are thinking critically, conducting analysis and research, analyzing statistical data and drawing conclusions, an essay that includes proper citation in either MLA or APA and using technology effectively. You will also see reflections on these artifacts and also a reflection on one of three job shadows that I did. I also have journal entries that I wrote during the course of year and at the end of my ePortfolio I will conclude with my farewell letter to the school.
